Southwest Investigative Solutions was founded by Tim Nyhoff, who is a retired Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer. Tim’s career with the OPP extends over 30 years, with a primary focus on criminal investigations. The first 25 years of Tim’s policing career were spent in the investigative field. He initially started his service to the residents of Ontario as a uniform Constable in the Chatham area. He then served extensively as a Major Crime Detective in two separate specialty units attached to the Windsor and Essex County area. In this capacity, Tim was extensively trained in covert operations and received speculated training geared toward the investigation of a wide range of criminality and other nefarious activities. He is specifically trained in the investigation of a variety of crimes against persons and property and has successfully undertaken a variety of interviewing/interrogation and behavioural training. He was subsequently promoted to Detective Sergeant of the Essex County OPP Detachment’s Criminal Investigations Unit and managed the investigations of numerous Major Crime Detectives, having oversight of all criminal investigations within the overall jurisdiction of the Essex County OPP Detachment. The latter part of Tim’s career was spent in police administration and planning, when he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and Manager of Administrative Support at the Essex County OPP Detachment – the largest single OPP Detachment in the Province of Ontario. In this role, he had oversight of all internal human resource issues, training endeavours, all facilities, asset management, maintained financial controllership and was trained as a Major Incident Commander and Emergency Planner. He also served as the detachment’s Municipal Liaison Officer with the Police Service Boards of the Municipalities of Essex, Kingsville. Lakeshore, Leamington and Tecumseh are serviced by OPP municipal policing contracts. Tim has maintained a focus on continuous learning and ongoing training in order to hone his investigator and analytical skills and ensure he maintains a sense of awareness and expertise in the ever-changing world of investigations. Southwest Investigative Solutions’ team of private investigators was assembled as a direct result of the affiliations developed from years of collaborative investigative police work. Each investigator is a recently retired police detective, assembled from across Southwestern Ontario. Each was selected because of their proven ability, aptitude, training, and personal skills, thereby bringing their own level of expertise, background, and competencies to a wide variety of investigative fields. No other private investigative business in this area can match our group's collective years of investigative experience and ability.

We are based in the Windsor and Essex County area but provide our services throughout Southwestern Ontario. We are members of the Windsor and Essex County Chamber of Commerce (WECCC) and the Council of Private Investigators of Ontario (CPIO).
